Ben Johnson
Ben has been working as a photographer for ten years. The theme of his work has been people and their surroundings. He specialises in making intimate portraits of his sitters that are more than a simple representation of their features. He works for a diverse group of clients including Cambridge University, Grimshaws and The Whitechapel Art Gallery as well as private portraiture clients
Ben works predominantly in monochrome using natural light. He creates incisive images that evoke the origins and traditions of photography whilst constantly looking to capture his subjects in their modern settings. In doing so he makes pictures that capture the nuances of the subject and their modernity without dominating them with technique
